16 Days Uganda – Rwanda Wildlife Exploration



Our team being majorly composed of guides and tourism graduates who have done extensive research in different safaris destinations in Sub Saharan Africa, they have concluded that Uganda and Rwanda are lands of great diversity with spectacular and undiscovered wildlife, scenery and full of hospitable smiling people and we promise you that on this trip we have featuring wonderful destinations, accompanied by our very wonderful guides, to create everlasting memories of Uganda – Rwanda and Africa as a whole. Day 1: Arrival.

Day 8: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park for an afternoon Boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel

Day 9: Game drive and trying out the Tree Climbing lions

Day 10: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Day 11: Gorilla Tracking

Day 12: Transfer to Rwanda.

Day 13: optional Gorilla or golden monkey Tracking

Day 14: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National park.

Day 15: Colobus monkeys Tracking – canopy walk – nature walk.

Day 16: Transfer to Kigali.

Day 1: Arrival.

Upon your arrival at the airport, our tour guide will meet you and give a short briefing about Uganda and Rwanda plus the safari in general then transfer you to Cassia or The Lodge for your overnight stay. Bb

Day 2: Kampala City tour

This tour today allows us learn more about Uganda and its evolution, Kampala is the capital city of Uganda which is modern looking with outlying townships spreading far beyond the original “seven hills” the city was built upon just like Rome. Many of Kampala’s more modern buildings were built in the 1980’s and each other day there are advancements in shaping the looks of the city.

On this tour we shall visit the Uganda Museum which will introduce you to Uganda relate date, another highlight will be the Kasubi Tombs a burial place for the Kings of Buganda and give a big history of the arrival of the Missionaries and the start of Modern Uganda, The Bahai temple the Former palace of the Buganda king and first President of Uganda will be on our to do list today. It will be a great day to visit the craft markets in Kampala as we wind up our visit then heard back to our lodge for dinner and overnight stay . B

Day 3: Transfer to Murchison Falls NP

In the morning your safari guide will transfer you to Murchison Falls National park. Enroute we have an optional activity of tracking the rhinos at Ziwa sanctuary which will increase our chances of seeing all the big five on this Best Uganda Rwanda Safari, we shall find a best spot for lunch then continue to Murchison falls national where we shall spend our overnight at Niles Safari Camp or Kabalega wilderness Lodge. Your guide will decide either to take you to the top of the falls time allowing on do the visit on you day out. BLD

Day 4: Morning Game safari and afternoon Boat cruise along the Victoria Nile.

Early morning start to catch up with the early risers ad on lucky days, we encounter predators such as the elusive leopard, lions, hyenas and jackals before they retreat to shrubs and their dens; other wildlife encountered on this game drive include Reed, Bush, and Waterbuck, Giraffe, Cape Buffalo, African Elephants, big schools of Hippo, troops of Olive Baboon and Patas Monkeys among other, we shall have a spot to enjoy our picnic lunch then late catch an afternoon boat to the bottom of the falls more views of game will be produced and plenty of Bird spp with breeding colonies of the Red Throated Bee-Eaters and Pied Kingfishers more schools of hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, waterbucks and giraffes always come to the river banks to cool off in the hot sun. Overnight stay at overnight at Niles Safari Camp or Kabalega wilderness Lodge.. BLD

Day 5: Optional morning drive and visit to the top of the falls

Depending on the luck we had on the previous game drive we can have another game drive today then we transfer to Hoima via the Albertine escarpment with beautiful views of the rift valley floor overlooking Lake Albert. Dinner and overnight stay at Kontik Hotel. BLD

Day 6: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, embark on a scenic trip to Fort Portal, a beautiful town overlooking the mountains of the moon, the drive will take us through the grassed gardens and homesteads of traditional Africa, please feel free to share with your guide about the different African cultures that you might encounter enroute, not leaving out the farming systems and the different crops that are grown in Uganda. Dinner and overnight at Mountains Of the Moon Hotel or Ataco Country Resort. BLD

 Day 7: Chimpanzee tracking and other primates in Kibale National park.

Today we go for chimp tracking in the morning as we look out for other primates like the L’Hoests, Red Colobus, black and white colobus, and Valvet monkey, Grey Cheeked Mangbey, Kibale forest has the biggest diversity of primates among all the Uganda forests, however this should not destruct bird lovers from the plenty of birdlife in here keeping in mind that it is the best spot for the Green Breasted Pitta which is among the top 10 birds in Uganda. Today we also have an optional birding or primate walk in the Bigodi wetland, about 7 species of monkeys can be encountered here and one of the best spots for the Papyrus Gonolek a globally threatened species. After this we later go back to our lodge for dinner and overnight stay at mountains of the moon or Attaco country resort. BLD

Day 8: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park for an afternoon Boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel

We leave at leisure and drive to Queen Elizabeth National park if there is good weather, we shall enjoy the views of the Rwenzori mountains as we looking forward to enjoying a two hours launch trip on the natural Kazinga Channel separating Lakes George and Edward for amazing bird life and a variety of wild life remember the biggest schools of Hippos are found in this area on the whole African continent. In the evening there will be an optional drive to the crater lakes region for the best sunset in the savannahs and view of the Rift or a late game drive looking out for nocturnal cats, on many a time the Leopard and lots of Nightjars can be viewed. Diner and overnight stay at Jacana or Marafiki Safari Lodge FB

Day 9: Game drive and trying out the Tree Climbing lions

Take an early morning cup of coffee before setting off for a game drive in the Northern area of the park towards Lake George and expect to see lions, elephants, buffalos, warthogs and lots of animals and birds. Today we shall have checked out of our rooms in the morning, we continue to the ‘Switzerland of Africa’ area known as the Kigezi Highlands with its terraced hillside and winding roads through to Ishasha sector south of Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will have an opportunity to see the tree climbing lions on a good and lucky day. We later check in at Wilderness Luxury Tented Camp Ishasha or Savannah Resort Hotel where we shall later have our dinner and overnight stay. Late evening game drives are always rewarding in on our safaris and this is an opportune moment to undertake one.

Day 10: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, begin our wildlife safari to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. We have a chance of doing an early morning game then depending on the luck of the previous day, the main focus is the tree climbing Lions. On lucky days, we always catch glimpses of Leopard. Troupes of Olive Baboons frequent the roads. Be on the lookout for other interesting savannah animals and birds, this sector is the best for seeing the Topi and large savannah elephants associated with the Guinea-Congo biome. We continue with our drive and later overnight at the Bwindi Mist Camp or Buhoma community camp. BLD

Day 11: Gorilla Tracking

Given that gorillas are unpredictable, we start with packed lunch, to the park headquarters for a briefing prior to Gorilla tracking exercise. The gorillas are gentle animals and it is an unforgettable experience to observe and photograph then in their natural setting. Each gorilla encounter is different and has its own rewards. You are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngsters frolic and swing from vines in a delightfully playful display. Gorilla tracking involves part or all of one day in the Impenetrable Forest. In rare instances finding, reaching, observing and returning from a group takes an entire day of quite hard trekking.  You need to be physically fit if you wish to maximize your chances. Very occasionally, in spite of all efforts, the gorillas prove elusive. Depending on the time at which we return, we might have an optional visit to the communities around the gorilla habitat depending on the energy level and how we shall be feeling after the tracking. Dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Mist Camp or Buhoma community camp. BLD

Day 12: Transfer to Rwanda.

Breakfast at will and prepare to transfer to Rwanda via Cyanika border and stay an overnight near volcanoes national park in Ruhengeri. Dinner and overnight stay at Mountain gorilla view lodge or Gorilla Hotel. BLD

Day 13: optional Gorilla or golden monkey Tracking

After an early morning breakfast our safari guide will take you to the park headquarters for detailed briefing about the tracking experience by the park ranger. After the briefing, you will drive to the starting point for tracking if you go for the playful Golden Monkeys note that they are one of the rarest species of monkeys in the world and they only live in the Virunga conservation area, enjoy them then later we drive back to our lodge for dinner and overnight – Mountain gorilla view lodge or Hotel Gorilla

Day 14: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National park.
After a relaxed breakfast, transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park through the scenic valleys and terraced hills. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge or Gisakura Guest House

Day 15: Colobus monkeys Tracking – canopy walk – nature walk.
start with a very early breakfast then embark on Colobus monkeys Tracking in Nyungwe Forest. While birding here, we shall also keep an eye out in the canopy to find primates like the Chimpanzee, Angola Pied Colobus (a species known in west African countries), as well as Blue, Red-tailed, and L’Hoest’s Monkeys, lots of forest birds, and beautiful butterflies await you on this wak. There are 13 primate species in the forest. In the afternoon if still strong, you may go for nature walk to the tea factory. Dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe Forest Lodge or Gisakura Guest House

Day 16: Transfer to Kigali.

In the morning after breakfast, transfer to Kigali, depending on your flight time we can make a visit to the main King’s Palace at Nyanza, Butare Museums and Murambi Genocide Memorial Site reaching Kigali in in time for your flight back home.
